Boundless is the story of Heidi Somers - a girl from North Pole, Alaska who left a town of fewer than two thousand people and built one of the most recognizable brands in fitness and lifestyle. Buff Bunny, the company she founded, now does hundreds of millions in revenue. The film traces the line between those two facts: where she came from, what she built, and the long road between origin and identity. It is a film about ambition, reinvention, and the distance between where you start and who you become.

I had full creative ownership from concept to final cut - writer, director, cinematographer, and editor. Every frame and every word was built to honor the truth of Heidi’s journey without turning it into a generic founder story. The project came together because of trust. Heidi approached me through her partner Christian Guzman, who I’ve known for years. There was no pitch process and no creative committee - just a friend asking another friend to tell the most honest version of her story.

Two years from first conversation to final release. Two weeks of production. Everything else was post. Telling Heidi’s story honestly meant going back to where it started. Shooting on location in North Pole, Alaska - her actual hometown - grounded the film in something real. The cold, the landscape, the distance from everywhere else. You can’t manufacture that kind of specificity. You have to go there. The harder problem was editorial. Heidi has documented her own life on YouTube for over a decade - thousands of hours of vlogs, training footage, brand-building, milestones, and public diary. To tell a story about her honestly, the film had to use her own archive. Months of post production were spent watching her tell her own story in real time, then finding the through-line that connected the small town to the empire. Every editorial decision was an act of compression - turning years of life into a single arc that earned every beat. This is the kind of project that exists because of relationship, not transaction. Heidi and Christian have been good to me for years. When the call came, the answer was already yes.
